The OTHER oil

 

Exodus 27:20

King James Version

20 And thou shalt command the children of Israel, 

that they bring thee pure oil olive 

beaten for the light, 

to cause the lamp to burn always.

The world talks so much about oil.

Sure, it's the oil to keep countries going.

But it's not the main oil we need, thus, this blog.

There is a "forgotten" oil, that we all need to focus on.

The kind that believers need to put on their "lamps", in preparation for a particular day, or hour -- in FULL readiness -- as this parable from JESUS shows:

Matthew 25:1-5

King James Version

25 Then shall the kingdom of heaven 

be likened unto ten virgins, 

which took their lamps, 

and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

3 They that were foolish took their lamps, 

and took no oil with them:

4 But the wise took oil in their vessels 

with their lamps.

5 While the bridegroom tarried, 

they all slumbered and slept.

Matthew 25:6-7

6 And at midnight there was a cry made, 

Behold, the bridegroom cometh; 

go ye out to meet him.

7 Then all those virgins arose, 

and trimmed their lamps.

Matthew 25:8-9

King James Version

8 And the foolish said unto the wise, 

Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.

9 But the wise answered, saying, 

Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: 

but go ye rather to them that sell, 

and buy for yourselves.

Matthew 25:10-12

10 And while they went to buy, 

the bridegroom came; and they that were ready 

went in with him to the marriage: 

and the door was shut.

11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, 

Lord, Lord, open to us.

12 But he answered and said, 

Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

It's all preparation now.

We must be ready for our LORD.

For the Rapture is imminent.

At a time of GOD's knowing.

Mark 13:32

32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, 

no, not the angels which are in heaven, 

neither the Son, but the Father.

We must all be ready.

These, we are called to do:

Matthew 25:13

13 Watch therefore, 

for ye know neither the day nor the hour 

wherein the Son of man cometh.

Mark 1:15

15 And saying, 

The time is fulfilled, 

and the kingdom of God is at hand:

UNCTION from the HOLY ONE

 

1 John 2:20

King James Version

20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, 

and ye know all things.

What is "unction"?

We clarified that in a "word study" post.

Who is the "Holy One"?

We also clarified that in the same post.

Believers receive the HOLY SPIRIT, through JESUS.

John 14:16

King James Version

16 And I will pray the Father, 

and he shall give you another Comforter, 

that he may abide with you for ever;

Many don't know the power of the HOLY SPIRIT.

And that's a shame, for SPIRIT has great function in these last days.

GOD's unction is His SPIRIT.

All things are made clear, through SPIRIT.

No one can teach us accurately about JESUS, except SPIRIT.

1 John 2:27

27 But the anointing 

which ye have received of him abideth in you, 

and ye need not that any man teach you: 

but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, 

and is truth, and is no lie, 

and even as it hath taught you, 

ye shall abide in him.

SPIRIT's power, and presence, are so underrated in this world.

Only because CHRIST's enemy wants to keep us ignorant, and deceived.

He was hoping, that at JESUS' death, we'd all be lost.

Only thing is, GOD knows the enemy.

What the enemy didn't know is that GOD's plan is through JESUS.

It's always been THROUGH Jesus.

Before JESUS went back to heaven, He prayed to GOD.

That GOD's SPIRIT would be upon the apostles.

Such is the LORD's love.

That His apostles wouldn't feel lost, and "orphaned".

For they would be teaching the gospel.

Scripture tells us what the LORD's plan was, through these verses.

It is not by accident JESUS calls the HOLY SPIRIT, the "Comforter".

The apostles, disciples, and all of us would be needing SPIRIT in the darker days ahead.

John 14:17

17 Even the Spirit of truth; 

whom the world cannot receive, 

because it seeth him not, 

neither knoweth him: 

but ye know him; 

for he dwelleth with you, 

and shall be in you.

John 16:7

King James Version

7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; 

It is expedient for you that I go away: 

for if I go not away, 

the Comforter will not come unto you; 

but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

Luke 24:49

49 And, behold, 

I send the promise of my Father upon you: 

but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, 

until ye be endued with power from on high.

Acts 1:8

JESUS taught us many things about the HOLY SPIRIT.

even the Spirit of truth, 

which proceedeth from the Father, 

he shall testify of me:

John 16:8-12

8 And when he is come, 

he will reprove the world of sin, 

and of righteousness, 

and of judgment:

9 Of sin, 

because they believe not on me;

10 Of righteousness, 

because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

11 Of judgment, 

because the prince of this world is judged.

John 16:13

13 Howbeit when he, 

the Spirit of truth, is come, 

he will guide you into all truth: 

for he shall not speak of himself; 

but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak:

John 16:14-15

Unless you're a true born again, you can't experience Who, and What, SPIRIT is.

But JESUS told us what to expect:

John 3:3-8

3 Jesus answered and said unto him, 

Verily, verily, I say unto thee, 

Except a man be born again, 

he cannot see the kingdom of God.

4 Nicodemus saith unto him, 

How can a man be born when he is old? 

can he enter the second time

As born again, we are SEALED with GOD's SPIRIT:

Ephesians 1:13

in whom also after that ye believed, 

ye were sealed with that holy Spirit 

of promise,

Once sealed, no one can pluck us from the FATHER's hand:

John 10:29

King James Version

29 My Father, which gave them me, 

is greater than all; 

and no man is able to pluck them 

out of my Father's hand.

Thus, what other oil is there?

The oil that the world offers?

Or this Unction from GOD?

Once you receive this Unction, you will be a completely changed person.

You will serve GOD alone.

OIL of GLADNESS

 

Psalm 45:7-8

7 Thou lovest righteousness, 

and hatest wickedness: 

therefore God, 

thy God,

 hath anointed thee 

with the oil of gladness 

above thy fellows.

8 All thy garments smell of myrrh, 

and aloes, 

and cassia, 

out of the ivory palaces, 

whereby they have made thee glad.

As SPIRIT led me to the holy anointing oil, I came upon the intriguing phrase, "oil of gladness".

We are anointed by GOD, for our righteousness.

and I shall be clean: 

wash me, 

and I shall be whiter than snow.

8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; 

that the bones which thou hast broken

Matthew 17:5

hear ye him.

The coming of JESUS, was prophesied.

Herein was He anointed by the SPIRIT of GOD.

This is what the Old Testament says:

Isaiah 61:1-6

61 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; 

because the Lord hath anointed me 

to preach good tidings unto the meek; 

he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, 

to proclaim liberty to the captives, 

and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, 

and the day of vengeance of our God; 

to comfort all that mourn;

3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, 

to give unto them beauty for ashes, 

the oil of joy for mourning, 

the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; 

that they might be called trees of righteousness, 

the planting of the Lord, 

that he might be glorified.

4 And they shall build the old wastes, 

they shall raise up the former desolations, 

and they shall repair the waste cities, 

the desolations of many generations.

5 And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, 

and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen 

and your vinedressers.

6 But ye shall be named the Priests of the Lord: 

men shall call you the Ministers of our God: 

ye shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, 

and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves.

This was confirmed in the New Testament.

By JESUS, Himself:

Luke 4:17-21

he found the place where it was written,

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, 

because he hath anointed me 

to preach the gospel to the poor;

to preach deliverance to the captives, 

and recovering of sight to the blind, 

to set at liberty them that are bruised,

19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

20 And he closed the book, 

and he gave it again to the minister, 

and sat down. 

And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue 

were fastened on him.

21 And he began to say unto them, 

This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

The Acts of the Apostles confirm this, too:

Acts 10:38

38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth 

with the Holy Ghost and with power: 

who went about doing good, 

and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; 

for God was with him.

I've probably barely scratched the surface.

Another lesson taught me today?

Anointing comes from the HOLY SPIRIT of GOD.

1 John 2:27

JESUS did say the HOLY SPIRIT is the "Spirit of truth".

SPIRIT teaches us all things, and helps us remember what JESUS said.

The "Spirit of truth" testifies of JESUS.

John 15:26

A striking example of the anointing of the HOLY SPIRIT can be understood when GOD chose David, to be king:

1 Samuel 16:12-13

King James Version

12 And he sent, 

and brought him in. 

Now he was ruddy, 

and withal of a beautiful countenance, 

and goodly to look to. 

And the Lord said, 

Arise, 

anoint him: 

for this is he.

13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil, 

and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: 

and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David 

from that day forward. 

So Samuel rose up, 

and went to Ramah.

Psalm 89:20-21

King James Version

20 I have found David my servant; 

with my holy oil have I anointed him:

21 With whom my hand shall be established: 

mine arm also shall strengthen him.

In contrast, Saul lost the SPIRIT of the LORD.

1 Samuel 16:14

King James Version

14 But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, 

and an evil spirit from the Lord troubled him.

The old king found comfort in the newly-anointed king.

1 Samuel 16:23

King James Version

23 And it came to pass, 

when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, 

that David took an harp, 

and played with his hand: 

so Saul was refreshed, 

and was well, 

and the evil spirit departed from him.

And all because the SPIRIT of GOD was in David.
